At: EuroSun2018 - 12th International Conference on Solar Energy for Buildings and Industry ; Rapperswil ; 10.9.2018 - 13.9.2018 ; In the last years, different research institutes have developed and applied whole system test methods for the performance evaluation of heating systems under realistic boundary conditions. Despite the common approach, the different methodologies presented in the literature have several differences that lead to different advantages and drawbacks. The paper investigates on the different results that are obtained considering different methods applied to the same climate and the same system. In this paper, we analyse the difference between a consolidated methodology as it is the CCT method and a new proposed method that is the PLPE method. Dealing with the different approaches in the definition of test sequence and in the emulations, the two methods show similar results in the evaluation of the seasonal performance factor of a solar and heat pump system. The SPF simulated considering a whole year is 3.82, the CCT estimates 4.09 whereas the PLPE 4.13.
