La geografia delle migrazioni nella Regione Alpina
MetadataShow full item record
Demographic changes are both a cause and effect of broader social and economic transformations. They are responsible of significant dissimilarities between and within regions; hence, regions across Europe are confronted differently with the challenges of de-population, population aging and patterns of migration. The Alpine region is characterized by heterogeneous socio-economic conditions and high territorial specificities. Yet, there exist regions that are growing and attracting migration flows, and others that are losing residents and are not able to attract newcomers. The paper aims to explore the relationships between demography and migration. Using accessible data at different administrative levels, the paper examines via graphs and maps the main components of population change and illustrates migratory flows data. The scope is to know more on migration patterns and discuss the demographic diversity of the Alpine territory.
