This paper outlines the development of the Wind and Solar Powered Autonomous Surface Vehicle (WASP), an unmanned autonomous long-range surface vehicle. We aim to develop mission specific systems to forecast environmental events and to trace the distribution of meteorological and ocean conditions over a long-term period (about 6 months at a time). The WASP consists of a 2.4 Meter Class Sailboat hull, a composite wing, a 2000 Waft-hour battery reservoir, a system of control actuators, a control system running from a LPC 2138 Development Board, a suite of oceanographic sensors, and potential power regeneration from both solar and wind energy. This paper briefly discusses the motivation for such system development, adresses key aspects of the design, comments on modeling, and concludes with recommendations of future work.

Comparison of Rock Varnish Bacterial Communities with Surrounding Non-Varnished Rock Surfaces: Taxon-Specific Analysis and Morphological Description Esposito, A; Ahmed, E; Ciccazzo, S; Sikorski, J; Overmann, J; Holmström, SJM; Brusetti, L (Springer Verlag (Germany), 2015)Rock varnish is a thin layer of Fe and Mn oxyhydroxides with embedded clay minerals that contain an increased Mn/Fe ratio compared to that of the Earth's crust. Even if the study of rock varnish has important implications ...

The generated chromosome is circular, with a length of 5.57 Mb and a G+C content of ...
Boevè, JL; Ducarmel, V; Mertens, T; Bouillard, P; Angeli, S (BioMed Central, 2004)Background: Several sawfly larvae of the Tenthredinidae (Hymenoptera) are called easy bleeders because their whole body integument, except the head capsule, disrupts very easily at a given spot, under a slight mechanical ...
