Cultural organizations leveraging social integration in disadvantaged neighbourhoods - a case study approach
|dc.description.abstract||The present paper investigates on how a cultural center located in a disadvantaged neighborhood of an urban context can contribute to urban regeneration processes by leveraging creativity and innovation through a collaborative and bottom-up approach. It explores how innovation and creativity can unfold at the individual and community level and how this can influence the territory´s identity and image. A case study is examined with qualitative methods and presents an explorative work describing implications that can be significant for further studies beyond the specific territory of analysis. The case study gives a special insight to the city- and community level´s perspective by focusing on the cultural community center CASA B located in the Belén district of Bogotá, one of the most vulnerable and economically disadvantaged neighborhoods inside the city center. The paper presents a descriptive approach of a case study. The discussion´s aim is to offer an alternative within the discourse of emerging global trends linked to creative and innovative processes within the urban context and to evaluate whether the case of Casa B represents a pilot that can be implemented in similar social contexts.||en_US|
