Abstract
Bolzano/Bozen has been designated as the “World Capital of Time Policies 2023/24” by the “Local and Regional Governments Time Network”. In celebration of this significant mission, the Municipality of Bolzano/Bozen has organized and continues to organize a variety of events, initiatives, and new services aimed at highlighting the value of time for well-being and quality of life. The Time Week 2023 marked the beginning of this important year for Bolzano/Bozen.
Over the years, Bolzano/Bozen has distinguished itself in promoting time policy initiatives in areas such as work-life balance, sustainable mobility, coordination of school schedules, harmonization of public office hours, digitalization, and more. These efforts have gained international recognition and appreciation for the capital of South Tyrol.
The current state of time policy was discussed and presented at three conferences focusing on “Time policies: a policy for innovation?”, “City and nightlife” and “Working smart(er)!”. This publication contains the different lectures, presentations and discussions and, in conclusion, the main findings of the three conference days are summarised and a classification scheme for best practice examples is presented.
