Abstract
Sustainability has become a key priority for many industries, among which the energy sector. This paper seeks to shed light on sustainability practices and performance in end-to-end energy supply chains. We formulate four research hypotheses on factors that might affect environmental, social, and governance scores (i.e., energy source, company position in the supply chain, geographic location, and firm size), and test them using secondary data from the Refinitiv ESG database. The main contribution is to identify blind spots that would help theory-building in sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) and provide energy managers with benchmarks for SSCM practices implementation.
