- Additional Description
- description: The exhibition Diminishing Returns originates from the observation that we – along with our bodies, ideas, imaginations, and desires – are consumed, processed, and monetized daily, just as we consume ourselves. Starting from an inquiry into the concept of visual excess, the exhibition adopts an interdisciplinary approach that spans multiple research contexts. It explores how we confront – and are, in turn, confronted by – contemporary phenomena of (over-) production and (hyper-)consumption; how it might be possible to distinguish “information signals” from the “noise” generated by data overload; how narratives of excess intersect with imaginaries of renunciation, sacrifice, and resistance; and ultimately, how these dynamics shape our self-perception and our collective lives as societies.
