Abstract
This study examines innovation trajectories and technological advancements in electric cars using a comprehensive dataset of 23,290 patents related to electric cars. We use Latent Dirichlet Allocation topic modeling to identify eight key technological areas, including electric vacuum pumps, electric drive systems, electric car body structures, electric car charging methods and infrastructure, intelligent control systems, electric power control, battery technology and power supply, and rotor shaft design and assembly.
The findings indicate significant patent activity, especially in China, highlighting its role as a global leader in electric car innovation. This study provides strategic insights for researchers and practitioners, enabling informed decision-making.
