Abstract

The pervasiveness of innovative digital technologies is profoundly transforming the way industrial systems are
being operated. New production and logistics paradigms as well as more conscious and sustainable approaches to operating industrial systems are becoming standard for companies. In line with these premises, the aim of this Special Issue is to solicit contributions investigating the interconnection of Lean Manufacturing methodologies, Industry 4.0 technologies and impacts on the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) of sustainability. Contributions may include mathematical models, theoretical approaches and frameworks, as well as successful implementations of the new digital technologies, and their integration with lean practices for sustainable development. Scientific works showing the enabling as well as empowering effects of Lean Manufacturing methodologies or Industry 4.0 concepts and technologies on economic, ecological and social sustainability aspects of Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing Management are highly appreciated.
