Abstract
As guest editors, we are excited to introduce this special issue of the IEEE Electron Devices Magazine dedicated to large-area and flexible electronics. This interdisciplinary area continues to rapidly evolve with new materials, manufacturing processes, device designs, system-level integration and packaging strategies, and novel applications, paving the way to unprecedented use cases. This field thrives on the synergistic collaborations among experts in physics, chemistry and chemical engineering, material science and engineering, electronics and mechanical engineering, computer science and engineering, and many others. Tangible progress in life-changing devices can be clearly seen in displays, sensors, photovoltaics, antennas, lighting, wearable devices, and other emerging technologies that are revolutionizing how we live and interact.
