Abstract
This short communication had the purpose to reply to the comments of M.M. Awad about the concept of entransy and its utilization by Vakalis et al. for the analysis of small scale biomass gasifiers. By reading the actual arguments of this communication it is clear that the target is the concept of entransy in general and not the methodology that is proposed by the manuscript. Dr. Awad has published similar correspondence in the past, i.e. against entransy but his arguments were contradicted by a reply from the authors who introduced the concept of entransy. We do not necessarily embrace the totality of these arguments since we recognize that there is merit in both sides. We try to have a positive attitude against feedback, therefore in this manuscript we provide a conventional alternative of our proposed methodology for anyone who is reluctant to use entransy for heat transfer analysis. Our scope has been to provide a valuable tool for the efficiency analysis of gasification plants that will be used by as many researchers as possible. We understand that some researchers may be reluctant to use entransy and would be more comfortable using conventional thermodynamic parameters. Therefore, we suggest the use of entropy instead of entransy as an alternative possibility. The rest of the methodology can remain as is.
