Abstract
Opinion article examining the political developments surrounding the proposed Jared Kushner tourism project in the protected areas of Sazan Island and the Narta Lagoon. The article discusses the leadership of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the relationship between political power, economic interests and democratic institutions, and the broader implications for democratic accountability in Albania. It argues that the public debate extends beyond environmental concerns, raising fundamental questions about institutional resilience, transparency and the quality of democracy in Albania and the Western Balkans.
