Abstract
The following contribution aims to introduce an important research project delaing with the translation of the Holy Scripture into Dolomitic Ladin. Since this is the only Rhaeto-Romanic language not having the translation of the whole Bible (there is a Romansh and a Friulian Bible already), this project fills an important culture gap and represents an effort to create neologisms and new words in the field of philosophy and theology and to improve lexical fields that have not been much elaborated yet. More than this, the translated text and the already existing Ladin parts of the Bible are also an important source to study some linguistic aspects of Dolomitic Ladin, so to say syntactical and lexical questions. Therefore, the principal focus of the presentation will be given to the different difficulties and challenges encountered during the translation process of the four gospels concerning lexical, semantical and syntactical aspects of the language.
