Abstract
In the introduction to the focus of this issue, we explore why and how we should consider and study “war and peace as challenges for social work and social pedagogy”. Our aim is to stimulate an in-depth examination of this subject drawing on peace and conflict studies. In light of the current social and political circumstances, the way in which “peace” and “war” have been addressed within the profession and discipline of “social work and social pedagogy” will be examined. This shows that further discussions need to take into account the ambivalences and complexities that scholars face in such powerful fields, in their empirical research, in their scientific communities, and in the context of the use of their findings. A possible framework for future engagement with the topic could be a shift away from the logic of war and towards the logic of peace. Finally, we present the contributions to the eighth volume of the Annual Review of Social Work and Social Pedagogy in Austria (OeJS)
