Abstract
La città tradizionale cederà il posto ad una nuova struttura di luoghi (virtuali e non) per assolvere meglio alle nuove esigenze urbane? E' quanto viene prospettato con sempre maggiore insistenza, considerato che l'era del villaggio globale si estende a macchia d'olio. Identità ibride sono parte di simili trasformazioni già in atto. Diventa importante indagare le dinamiche di questa mutazione per capire meglio quali cose tenere e a quali rinunciare, delineando attivamente nuovi scenari metropolitani. Il saggio analizza la ricerca di Domus Academy "Metropoli Domestiche" e ne presenta una sintesi.
Will the traditional city be supplanted by a novel structure of urban places (virtual and not) to do a better job of meeting new urban everyday needs? This is being more and more insistently envisioned, considering that the era of the global village is spreading like wildfire. Hybrid identities are part of similar transformations already underway. It becomes crucial to investigate the modes of this mutation to get a better grasp of what we should maintain or renounce, thereby actively outlining new metropolitan scenarios. The essay is analysing the Domus Academy's research project "Domestic Metropolises" summarizing new visions of living landscapes.
