Abstract
Floristic and faunistic observations in the nature monument Trumbichl (Feldthurns, South Tyrol, Italy)
The Trumbichl is a dry, stony hill in the central Eisack/Isarco valley of South Tyrol. It harbors an interesting flora and fauna, mainly of dry-adapted species. Due to the relatively continental climate of the area, several interesting floristic and faunistic elements occur, typical for the inner-alpine dry valleys. During a concerted study day in July 2016 and several additional investigation visits, a total of 392 species were recorded, mainly belonging to the following taxonomic groups: vascular plants, mosses, birds, beetles, butterflies and grasshoppers. Several endangered species as well as a few species listed in the annex of the fauna-flora-habitat directive were found. The predominant habitat, i.e. the dry meadows, belong to the priority habitats of the directive (6240*, subpannonic steppic grasslands). Thus, the site as has an outstanding conservation value for the Isarco/Eisack valley as well as for South Tyrol.
