Abstract

Chile continues to be especially active in the environmental arena, and its focus this year was on water. This focus is probably due to the number of internal issues linked to this crucial resource, particularly vis-à-vis the intricate and rather unfair system of water legislation in this country (see YIEL, volumes 26–8). Notwithstanding this, the country’s efforts in environmental matters were praised by two relevant international organizations.
