Abstract
Attempts to assess the quality of academic publications have beenincreasing lately. Due to the number of existing journals,it is hard to make a representative selection andto find criteria for determining quality. Hence, questions arise, includingwhat sort of journals are more important in termsof reputation, readership frequency, and relevance to scientificresearchand practice. Recent studies on journal rankingshave been carried out on the basis of both objective data (citationcounts)and the quality perceptions of experts. This studyattempts a rating of tourism and hospitality journals among thescientificcommunity according to the journals’ readershipfrequency, scientific and practical relevance, overall reputation, andtheimportance of being published in the journals tothe academic career of the respondents.
