Abstract
Traversing Territories presents over 60 projects of students of the Master in Eco-Social Design in the province of South Tyrol in north-east Italy and neighbouring Austria and Germany. Students collaborate with diverse partners from public, social and commercial sectors to encourage transformative ecological and social change through developing enabling solutions and in doing so develop their emergent eco-social design practice. Student work is accompanied by essays and reflections from teachers, interviews with partners and an account of the annual conference, By Design or By Disaster 2013-2019. This compendium shows the potential and real impacts of designing for local and regional solutions to deal with the complex challenges of sustainable ways of living, working and organising for positive change.
