Abstract
Parental education is increasingly an indispensable tool for educating families in responsibility not only towards their own nucleus but also from a social perspective, as parenting is not limited to actions relating to ways of raising children but is such as to involve specific civil liability. This contribution aims to emphasize an aspect linked to health not only of child but of entire community, for which formation of parents is a strategic priority and pedagogy must commit itself on that, claiming the key role in the educational processes.
Childhood vaccinations are decisive tools in the fight against infant morbidity and mortality. However, for several years there has been a vast disinformation action with anti-vaccine campaigns, which influence the decisions and actions of parents. Among the Italian regions, the province of Bolzano has the lowest vaccination coverage, 75% against the WHO threshold of 95%. The phenomenon of Vaccine Hesitancy, a term that includes indecision, delay, rejection, is a complex concept and closely linked to different social contexts and environments. The project "The determinants of vaccination behavior in South Tyrol" activated by the Free University of Bolzano in collaboration with the Health Authority, aims to highlight nuclei of ideas and representations on which the resistance and arguments against vaccination practices, to then establish training sessions for social and civil responsibility on the issues of health and care.
