Abstract
Our purpose is to enhance the provision of mental health interventions to adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) by using Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically Reinforcement Learning (RL) and Computational Persuasion (CP), to develop an adaptive and personalized Computerized Cognitive Training (CCT) tool. Our research has three main objectives:
* Assessing the effectiveness of RL-based cognitive training for adults with ADHD.
* Exploring advanced RL algorithms and developing CP techniques to improve personalization and adherence to CCT.
* Conducting a clinical trial to evaluate the effects of AI-based CCT on various cognitive functions.
* This is the first project in Italy focusing on CCT for adult ADHD, an area that is largely under-researched globally. The research will be conducted by an interdisciplinary team formed by psychiatrists and psychologists from the Psychiatric Service, Bozen-Bolzano Hospital, and computer scientists of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.
