Abstract

twitter social media corpora italian lexical innovation language change
This study investigates emerging vocabulary in contemporary Italian in a corpus of 5.32 M timestamped and geotagged tweets extracted from the Italian timeline throughout 2022. We automatically identify and manually distill 8133 candidate neologisms down to 346 unattested word forms, shedding light on their spatio-temporal circulation patterns.
