Abstract
Social Accountability 8000 (SA8000) is considered the most important worldwide auditable certification in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). After about ten years of research on SA8000, this paper provides the first comprehensive literature review on this topic. We identified and classified 48 scientific works, highlighting and discussing the main research fields concerning SA8000: motivations and obstacles in the adoption and management of the ethical certification, comparison with ISO standards and comparison with other CSR models. Building on this, the study points out some theoretical, methodological and thematic gaps and proposes suggestions for future research.
