Abstract
The realm of urban planning and design has persistently grappled with the dichotomy of manifesting utopian aspirations within the constraints of realistic execution. This paper explores the concept of Tactical Utopianism, an approach to urban development that seeks a middle ground between visionary utopian ideals and the pragmatic realities of urban planning. Tracing the evolution of 'utopia' from its origins to its modern connotations, the study highlights the limitations of traditional utopianism and the emergence of Tactical Utopianism as a response to these challenges. The paper distinguishes Tactical Utopianism from tactical urbanism, emphasizing its focus on long-term, holistic urban transformation. It outlines a strategic timed framework for implementing Tactical Utopianism, highlighting key milestones and objectives at each stage.
