Abstract
To counter the recent global raise in mining related sustainability impacts, a decommodization of minerals by using sustainability certificates is proposed. For theory development in this field, the first structured content analysis based literature review of 38 academic papers has been conducted at the intersection of supply chain management (SCM), mineral commodities and sustainability. It derives a framework for sustainable SCM for metallic minerals proposing a novel supply chain (SC) design including specific tasks to realize the decommodization, supreme sustainability performance and thus a competitive advantage. Besides, it proposes research directions for the further integration of SCM and mineral commodities.
