Abstract
The estimate of the cooling consumption is a crucial issue to understand how to improve thermal performances of buildings. The aim of this paper is the assessment of the deviation arising by the use of different approaches for the thermal simulation of buildings in transient regime. Simulation tools based both on standard calculations and on enhanced methods have been used to model an opaque component of the building envelope. A comparison between different approaches of the Transfer Function Method (TFM) has been carried out, considering both the DRF (TRNSYS) and the SS (EnergyPlus) approach. As benchmark for this comparison, EN ISO 13786 procedure has been applied by firstly decomposing the external temperature signal by means of Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) analysis. Furthermore, the predictions of the EN ISO 13786 with sinusoidal forcing wave (standard approach) have also been assessed comparing the result with the ones obtained through the FFT analysis.
