Abstract
Industry 5.0 has necessitated to modernize engineering education to meet the evolving demands of industry. Next to a focus on digitalization this modernisation includes the integration of sustainability aspects, the promotion of a human-centric work environment as well as resilient value chains. There is also a growing emphasis on the development of education and lifelong learning in engineering, to ensure that professionals have the necessary skills and competencies to cope with the constant changes. This study reveals a critical gap in the current competence profiles of engineering graduates, essentially for the automotive mobility value chain. It advocates for proactive stakeholder engagement at the initial stages of educational changes to address industry-specific challenges effectively. The research emphasizes the importance of a collaborative approach among various stakeholders to ensure that the engineering education system is maintaining competitiveness in the rapidly changing market.
