Abstract
The utilization of the finite element (FE) method in the welding simulation of different filler materials is presented in the paper. Flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) was conducted using two kinds of the filler material-common filler material and LTT (low transformation temperature) filler material. A numerical model that predicts transient temperature and residual stress fields in the welding process, was developed and compared with experimental results. The use of LTT filler material results in favourable residual stress distribution in welded structures.
