Abstract
Negotiation is an essential process in an entrepreneurial journey that is often overlooked in entrepreneurship and negotiation research. This paper systematically reviews 67 academic articles published in management and business journals. They are categorized into four key themes: negotiation parties, negotiation processes, negotiation contexts, and outcomes. Our findings show that the literature mainly focuses on entrepreneur-investor negotiations, neglecting other players such as team members, suppliers, and frontliners. Our review highlights the need to investigate the behavioural and emotional aspects of the negotiation process, including how collective emotional states and varying team negotiation styles shape strategies and outcomes. An agenda for future research is developed for each theme, detailing the key research avenues to advance theory and practice at the intersection of entrepreneurship and negotiation.
