Abstract
Nel 1927 il libro Depero Futurista, detto anche libro bullonato, fu pubblicato dall’artista futurista Fortunato Depero assieme alla casa editrice Dinamo-Azari.
Il paper proposto analizza il libro dal punto di vista grafico-editoriale e tipografico, considerando le influenze scaturite dal libro e le metodologie adottate dall’artista nel processo creativo. La ricerca fa uso di gran parte degli schizzi e della corrispondenza prodotta da Depero stesso in merito al libro bullonato, materiali originali conservati presso l’Archivio del Novecento del Mart e al Getty Research Institute di Los Angeles. In aggiunta, altri documenti originali in possesso di collezionisti privati e degli eredi di Depero sono stati da me analizzati.
La rilevanza di tale ricerca risiede nella mancanza di studi scientifici che analizzino la tematica sopracitata. Infatti, nonostante la figura di Depero sia stata già presa in esame dagli storici dell'arte, Depero Futurista rimane ancora inesplorato e considerevole di essere oggetto di un'analisi approfondita.
In 1927 the book Depero Futurista, also known as the bolted book, was published by the futurist artist Fortunato Depero together with the Dinamo-Azari publishing house.
The paper seeks to analyse the Depero Futurista from a graphical, an editorial and typographical perspective, considering the influences exerted by the book and the methodologies adopted by the artist in the design process. In order to do this, the proposed research exploits the majority of Depero’s existing sketches and correspondence regarding the bolted book, which are kept in the Archivio of Novecento - Mart and the Getty Research Institute of Los Angeles. In addition, materials owned by private collectors and Depero’s heirs have been analysed by myself.
My research is made all the more relevant by the lack of scientific texts that analyse the above issues. In fact, even though Depero has already been studied by art historians, very little else has been written on Depero Futurista. Therefore, this landmark publication remains almost unexplored and deserving of in–depth analysis.
