Abstract
This paper presents a study that makes a thorough evaluation of the economic competitiveness of building integration of flexible PV modules in the European Union (EU) by comparing the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) of flexible modules with rigid modules considering different locations in several European countries. The countries and cities chosen were Stockholm (Sweden), Évora (Portugal), Munich (Germany), Bordeaux (France), Vienna (Austria), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Rome (Italy), Warsaw (Poland), Athens (Greece), Dublin (Ireland), for each country an economic analysis was made. The analysis was based on the evaluation of the average installation and maintenance costs for each country, and by using PVGIS, the annual energy production of the system (kWh) was estimated for each location. The LCOE was calculated for all locations, both residential and industrial installations, considering an installed power of 3 kWp for residential systems and 300 kWp for the industrial ones.
