Abstract
In this paper the effect of different roofs on cooling energy need has been evaluated through dynamic simulation of the energy need and of the cooling load of a building model. For the analysis purposes a base module of 100 m2 of floor and a large number of cases (about 900) have been considered changing the characteristics of the roof, (thermal capacity, insulation layer thickness and position, absorptivity of external surface), the insulation position in the other walls and the size and the orientation of the glazings for Rome climatic conditions, in accordance with a factorial plan.
