Abstract

This paper presents a novel methodology to integrate Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) processes with Digital Twin (DT) technology in Smart Mobile Factories (SMF), with a focus on precast concrete tube production for Hyperloop infrastructure construction projects. The proposed framework systematically maps SMF activities at both process and system levels, developing a step-by-step approach to align quality requirements with measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). By selecting and implementing appropriate tools and technologies suited to both manual and automated inspection needs, the framework translates these KPIs into a digital environment that integrates with the DT concept. This integration enhances quality control through real-time data collection, capturing sensor data for automated inspections and digitally recording manual inspection information to ensure comprehensive, data-driven quality management. The framework aims to establish a seamless model for integrating quality control in precast concrete production within SMFs, boosting operational efficiency and accuracy. A detailed case study illustrates the framework’s practical application, demonstrating its use in SMF settings and its potential scalability to other manufacturing environments.
