Abstract
The sustainability implications of digital technologies on supply chains are not yet studied. Whether such technologies, such as big data or blockchains would improve sustainability issues and how this might be the case is an open question. By building on a conceptual framework of sustainable supply chain management, we assess how big data and blockchains would support (or not) such actions. As one example, big data should allow the assessment of multi-tiers of the supply chain and respective environmental and social conditions. This should stimulate the debate on the use and usefulness of digital technologies in sustainable supply chain management.
