Abstract
The article centres on the particular difficulties faced when drafting terminological definitions for legal terms. It illustrates the specific challenges to be faced and aspects to be considered. Eventually, it presents a list of guidelines on how to write terminological definitions in the field of law, based on the experience of the Institute for Specialised Communication and Multilingualism of the European Academy of Bolzano with the bistro bi- and trilingual database of legal terminology.
