Abstract
Knowledge management and collaboration management has become an important success factor for enterprises in general and even more for knowledge intensive production companies. Nowadays industrial manufacturing includes not only production, assembling or logistics services, but also a high transfer of knowledge through project management, collaboration between companies or persons as well as the exchange of information and documentation in various forms. The productivity of such industrial companies depends therefore not only from efficient and "lean" manufacturing processes. Thus, knowledge management and collaboration management become more and more important and leads enterprises to redesign their business processes. This paper shows a value-stream oriented design method named Collaboration Stream Mapping (CSM) to visualize collaboration and knowledge transfer in the company. The application of the method in a real industrial case study illustrates the results for improving enterprise knowledge management.
