Abstract
The research described in this paper is part of an international project launched among several research institutions in order to define cartographic solutions able to better summarize spatial database content and represent geographic knowledge. The solution proposed to achieve this aim is based on the chorem concept and its capability to associate a visual notation with a schematized representation of territory. In this paper we focus on the embedded visual environment for chorem editing meant to enable expert users, such as cartographers, to add details for map customization.
