Abstract
The management of solar radiation access inside buildings with large glazed façade requires considerable attention when energy saving and interior comfort has to be provided. This paper aims to present a control strategy for venetian blind applied on a shopping mall building located in Spain. The shading control strategy is based on a hierarchical decision-making approach, which aims at optimizing shadings configuration to reduce heating and cooling need and to improve thermal and visual comfort. The control has been tested using detailed thermal and daylighting annual simulations. The results in terms of energy consumption, visual and thermal comfort are compared against two standard controls strategy, and show the effectiveness of the proposed control.
