Abstract
The Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities provides for regular monitoring of the implementation of the provisions contained in the Convention for the states that have ratified it. In February 2023, the 5th report was presented on Italy, which ratified the Framework Convention in 1997. The Italian report was prepared by Prof. Domenico Morelli (President of the CONFEMILI - Comitato nazionale federativo minoranze linguistiche d'Italia). He presents the report, the opinion and the resolution of the Council of Europe at this event. The 5th report states that Italy continues to apply the provisions of the Convention to the twelve officially recognised "historical linguistic minorities". It also underlines that Italy pays more attention to the smaller linguistic minorities and strengthen the protection of the Roma and Sinti. The event is jointly organised by the South Tyrolean Ethnic Groups Institute SVI and the Center for Autonomy Experience.
