Abstract
Tourism is a cornerstone of South Tyrol’s economy and identity, shaped by strong seasonality, diverse market origins, and a rich portfolio of natural and cultural assets. This presentation analyzes tourism flows, source markets, and accommodation capacity in South Tyrol and Trentino, highlighting both growth dynamics and structural challenges. Particular attention is given to the pressure of high season peaks, uneven bed occupancy, and dependence on a few main source markets. Climate change further exacerbates vulnerabilities in snow-dependent destinations. Strategies for resilience include diversifying tourism products, targeting shoulder seasons, and fostering sustainable, year-round development.
