Abstract
Invited to contribute as partial fulfilment of IBK PhD requirement: Outline of PhD research focus and future projects. Topic: High-altitude cerebral edema (HACE) and acute mountain sickness (AMS) are neuro-pathologies associated with rapid exposure to hypoxia. However, speculation remains regarding the exact patho-etiology of HACE. This presentation outlined our interest in the basic principles of how brain edema develops at high altitude and the evidence base for the potential contribution of the proposed glymphatics system.
