Abstract
After bottling, environmental conditions such as vibrations, temperature, light and humidity may lower the quality level of wine stored in bottles, causing a great economic loss for the winery. Vibrations, the main variable under study in the present work, may dramatically increase the rate of degradation reactions, thus decreasing the shelf life of wines. Thus, the aim of this research was to test an innovative technology for the wine storage, which uses natural magnetic levitation to keep wine bottles in suspension and reduce vibrations. The chemical analysis did not show the effect of treatment but only the effect of the time. Instead, sensory analysis showed the effect of treatment, demonstrating that the bottle that had undergone vibration damping treatment correlated more strongly with overall quality judgement.
