Abstract
The paper outlines the characteristics of Sport Didactic" in Italy by providing, in the introduction and in the first two chapters, a description of the recent historical evolution of Sport Didactics in three main fields of application: university training of experts in “Sports science”, school physical education and the sport system. In addition to a description of the evolution of these areas, the reference of the texts which have had a major impact on Sports didactics in Italy from 1970 onwards have been identified and are shortly described.
Examples of Sport Didactics applications in primary and secondary school physical education curricula are illustrated in the chapter 3. Finally, the chapter 4 summarizes the main research directions for physical activity and sport promotion at a young age, and describes the current trends in Sport didactics and their perspectives in the near future in Italy.
