Meeting the climate change challenge distinctly appears a crucial and compound task calling for multiple coordinated actions at all governmental levels, i.e., international, supranational, national and local levels. The following paragraphs provide a brief summary of EU targets in the field of climate change, some data on emissions and climate impacts, and explore how peculiar multi-level dynamics affect the climate governance ambitions of the EU and its Member States
