Abstract
Real World Laboratories (RWLs) have emerged as a transdisciplinary research and development organization that facilitate sustainable transformation and participation processes through collaboration between science and society. Starting from the example of the Tiny Fop Mob project, a mobile RWL designed to promote sustainable transformation processes within businesses and society, the paper highlights the importance of participation and the systematic evaluation during the project. The project successfully implemented evaluation criteria and engaged civil society through participatory workshops and events. The findings contribute to show how knowledge dissemination and awareness-raising and participation about sustainable practices are implemented in RWLs. The paper shows the potential and challenges of RWLs in fostering eco-social transformation.
