Abstract
The term podcast refers to a digital audio file distributed through the Internet and usable on a computer or MP3 player. This short chapter begins by reflecting from a musicological perspective on the history of sound preservation techniques to discuss the potential of podcasts in the educational context. In particular, it discusses the development of a workshop that, as part of the Ecoltura Project of the University of Trento and the Municipality of Rovereto (Trento), led high school students to write and record a podcast on the life and work of local composer Gotifredo Ferrari.
