Abstract
Social work is ‘a practice-based profession and an academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of people’ (IFSW General Meeting and IASSW General Assembly, 2014). Thus, transformative change is part of social work’s mission. However, this aim has largely been ignored in practice. This chapter will focus on transformative concepts, strategies and methods which are aligned with the aforementioned aspirations. It introduces diverse worldviews, which are relevant for ecosocial transformation, but until now have rarely found their way into social work.
