Abstract
Light is not only an electromagnetic radiation or a tool that permits people to illuminate dark environments. It is the ancient daily transition from day to night and from night to day that has shaped, for thousands of years, our perception and cultures producing hundreds of references.
From the very first beginning of human existence - in ancient times but also in the beginning of each single human adventure - light plays a key role in our lifes as one of the earliest and strongest experiences we know and live day by day.
The Italian movie director Federico Fellini (1920-1993) has been well conscious about the importance of this physical, aesthetical and spiritual phenomenon. "Light", he said, "is a universal force: it is substance, dream, emotion, colour, tone, depth, atmosphere, narration, ideology. Light is life."
