Abstract
The role of regional hardware accelerators is crucial to achieving the EU’s global ‘twin transition’ objective. This is because accelerators promote technological advancement to accelerate sustainability transition. This chapter examines Industrio, Italy’s first hardware startup accelerator, and presents it as a model of inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurship in the domain of deep tech. Industrio is proactive in integrating sustainability into the heart of Italy’s manufacturing sector by working towards SDGs 4, 8, 9, 10 and 17. Accordingly, Industrio can be considered as a good example of how accelerators can contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable economic landscape, particularly in deep tech and hardware domains.
