Abstract
The paper discusses a didactic unit on German prosody that was used, shortly before Corona distance learning took hold, as a self-learning module for students in the social pedagogy program serving as their first contact with German prosody.
As part of a comprehensive program focused on the acquisition of prosody, which previously incorporated poems by H. M. Enzens-berger instead of traditional phonetic exercises (Zanin 2016, Drumbl-Zanin 2020), this paper presents an introduction to German prosody using a poem by Ilse Aichinger. The approach enables learners to independently analyse their own performance using Praat, providing visual feedback on their recitation of the poem – an element that proves crucial to the learning experience. The search for the meaning of the text proceeds simultaneously with the search for the learnability of prosodic patterns, leading to significant im-provements in both areas
